Sub Branch History

A short story but big on tradition.

At a meeting held on the the 30th April 1980 it was decided to form the Tin Can Bay Ex-Services Club. Not having access to a club room in the early days the Ex Services Club held its meetings at Bobs Café, The Pavilion on the Sports Ground.

On the 25th March 1986 at a meeting held at the Pavilion the affairs of the Tin Can Bay Ex Services Club were wound up and the Tin Can Bay Sub Branch of the Wide Bay Branch (QLD) of the Returned Services LEAGUE OF Australia was founded.

The actual granting of the Charter which is framed and on the wall of the Sub Branch was granted at a ceremony at Kingaroy on the 16th March 1986.

The opening of our present Sub Branch was on the 30th March 1996.

The Tin Can Bay RSL Sub Branch is steeped in tradition; a tradition not known to many and it seems to be sliding into obscurity, but for a few who continue to keep the torch alight. Lest we forget our legacy for the youth of today as they will be our torch bearers of the future.

The Tin Can Bay RSL Sub Branch came into being more than 30 years ago and continues to grow from strength to strength.

Serving the past, present and future Australian Defence Force Personnel and the greater Tin Can Bay, Cooloola Cove Community and surrounding areas.

Come along and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and meet friends.

We look forward to welcoming you to our venue and ensure you enjoy all we have to offer.
