Sub Branch History

Although the Charter is dated 1919 the first minutes commence in November 1924 and the first secretary is not listed on the Committee Board until 1955. From March 1931 until November 56 and again from March 71 to April 77 no minutes have been found. From a membership of 105, Post WW2, to its current 47, the Sub Branch meets on the first Saturday of the month with around 50% of its membership in attendance.

In 1987 the Citizen’s Auxiliary Indoor Bowling Club was formed and is still bowling every Thursday night. It enjoys a membership of 27, mostly bowlers with some social members only.

A large part of any sub branches’ history involves its Honor Board or Cenotaph. Gayndah is steeped in history and the link below will take you to that story……..

2007 saw a ferocious storm wreak havoc in Gayndah including the removal of the RSL Hall’s roof and destroying most of the thatched ceiling. 2014 with funds raised by the ‘Girl in a Million’ Quest, realized two low cost housing duplexes built adjacent to the hall and in 2014 this was extended to 5 making a villa complex of 10 units owned by RSL Queensland Branch. At the same time some renovations were made to the hall which enjoys regular community use.
