Project Description

Don spent some 20 years in the Army rising to Warrant Officer. After the Army and for a period of around 14 years Don worked in the private Prison industry as Supervisor Security to becoming Operations Manager and Manager Private Prison Activities in Qld, Vic and WA.  Don spent a further 13 years in the Wide Bay Region Queensland Fire and Rescue Rural Fire as a training officer and a volunteer with Queensland Rural Fire.  Don is JP qualified and was awarded an Australia Day Award for service to the Fire and Emergency Services Rural Fire, together with a 10 Year Medal for Due Diligence and Ethical Conduct.
Since 2006 to the present time, Don has been involved with the Kingaroy – Memberambi Sub Branch as a Pension and Welfare officer and, since 2008 became the President and Delegate of that Sub Branch.
After servicing as District Vice President, then Deputy President Don was elected President of the Wide Bay and Burnett District in May 2017. Dons objective in his role as District President is “to use my professional training and strong social conscience to contribute to the positive outcomes for the Veterans, families and District members”.
